Printable Christmas Cards Create Cherished Holiday Memories

Printable Christmas cards have become very popular for various reasons.

For one, when you choose a card design and print it at home, you have complete control over the way it looks – the design, the format in which it’s printed, the message that goes inside and even the photo you want on the front. There’s just no limit to how much you can personalize your free Christmas cards and that is something that’s attracting people more than ever. Why would anyone settle for something bought off the shelf when you can create a personalized greeting card that’s just as beautiful, if not more, at home and best of all – for free? It just doesn’t get any better than that.

Except, it does.

When you choose a printable Christmas card from gotfreecards, you don’t have to settle for something you’re not sure about. You can select a design, customize it with your message and if you’re not sure if you like it or if you want another family member’s opinion before printing it out, you can simply save it. Saving a printable card lets you share it with others, make changes to it and create a card that is just perfect before you print it.

This is important because when you’re sending holiday cards on behalf of your family or as a couple, not everyone likes the design or message you choose the first time. People have different tastes in greeting cards and when you’re selecting something from a store shelf, you have little choice but to pick out something you like at the moment – unless you drag your entire family along to the store for Christmas card shopping.

But with gotfreecards’ Printable holiday cards, you can be absolutely certain that everyone in your family loves a card before printing and sending it out. What’s more, you don’t even have to waste your paper or ink if you’re not sure about a design or a holiday greeting card. You don’t have to print it unless you most certainly love it. So, you could pool in your thoughts and ideas and create the most wonderful family holiday card that reflects everyone’s tastes.

That’s not all – a printable Christmas card has the potential to become a fantastic family project. If you choose one of our cards that has a picture which needs to be colored in, you’ll find that even the youngest member in your family is suddenly interested in holiday cards. Encourage kids to participate in this annual holiday ritual by coloring in the picture, signing their names or by coming up with a holiday message to share.

Our holiday cards are designed to make sending Christmas wishes a collaborative, family effort – in the spirit of the season. We believe that holiday wishes are far more special when families enjoy and cherish the experience of creating, sharing and sending Printable Christmas cards.

Christmas Ecards: A Few of my Favorites

by Josh

Christmas is coming up pretty soon, which means the pressure’s on to finish all your shopping.  You probably already have decided to send some free Christmas ecards, but with so many to choose from, you may be having a hard time narrowing it down.  Let me tell you a little about some of my favorite Christmas ecards, and maybe I can help your decision-making process.

Sunny Christmas Ecard

This card starts with a brisk, wintery scene…and then the image pans back to show that we’re really looking at a toy snow globe, and the weather on this exotic beach—where the action actually takes place—is quite nice.  I like this card a lot, because it speaks to two very important truths about me: I love Christmas, and I hate cold weather!

The Christmas List Ecard

This card delivers some welcome news: the markets are rebounding!  Hurray!  But the reason?  Santa’s reviewed your Christmas list, and coal producers are expecting record gains.  I know a few people who barely manage to stay off Santa’s naughty list, so this card is great for them—and for any pranksters and trouble makers you might know!

Crossing Guard Santa

This one is pretty cute.  Here, a school crossing guard ducks from his duties, and steals a quick nap on a bench.  As he sleeps, snow starts to fall, covering him.  And by the time he wakes up, he looks pretty indistinguishable from Santa himself!  Know someone with a good heart who could fill Santa’s job if the big man ever needed a break?  Then this is the card for you!

Golfing Christmas Ecard

When Santa’s not busy working at the toy factory or delivering gifts, he gets the reindeer to take him out to the greens, so he can enjoy a good round of golf!  My brother-in-love loves golf, and I know he’ll laugh himself silly when he sees this card.

Merry Christmas Sweetheart

Finally, here we the perfect card for one lovebird to another.  The message here says that yes, gifts and Christmas lights and things like that are nice, but the best part of Christmas is…waking up next to someone you love!

So those are some of my favorite free Christmas ecards.  I hope you like them, too.  And if not, you should still feel free to browse through all the different designs to the perfect one (or ones!).  After all, like I said earlier, there are tons to choose from!

How to Make a Shopping List for Christmas Gifts

If you end up spending way too much time Christmas shopping and come home with stocking stuffers that nobody is kicked about, maybe it’s time to rethink the way you go about it.

This technique to make a shopping list has helped me find the perfect gifts for my friends and family and saved me hundreds of dollars every time. Maybe it will help you?

1. Settle down at your desk comfortably with a piece of paper and a pencil.

2. Make three columns.

3. In the first column create two sub- headings – Must buy, Want to buy.

4. Under the first category, write the names of your dearest loved ones whom you absolutely must buy gifts for. Parents, siblings, best friend, spouse, grandparents, aunts and uncles may fall in this category. Include the people you care about the most and whom you will definitely be meeting or sending gifts to.

5. Under Want to buy, include people you like and want to give something to – such as colleagues, professors, business associates, tennis partner, distant cousin, child’s teacher etc.

6. In the second column – against each name write down what you know about them which would help you find gifts for them. For example – Against Mom, you could write – enjoys decorating, likes good coffee, is a Michelle Obama fan etc. Against Uncle Stephen, you could write – needs to get his den organized, enjoys cigars, poker

7. In the third column – translate the items in the second column to actual gifts. For example, gift options for mom could be – a yearly subscription to a leading Home Décor magazine or a couple of bags of the finest coffee beans,  a book about Michelle Obama or a collection of the best interview clippings with the First Lady from leading magazines. For Uncle Stephen, the options could be – hire cleaning help to clean out and organize den or build or buy a storage shelf for his large book collection, personalized poker cards or a new poker table.

8. When you’ve done this for all the people in your list, you will see that for each person you will have two or three gift options to choose from. Now, select the options you like best. For some people, you could combine a couple of gifts. For others, you could choose just one. Some gifts, you can make and personalize – a book with Michelle Obama clippings for Mom, for example. Some gifts, you can order online.

9. Do the same with the second category of people. Remember to include gifts that are ‘free’ – such as your babysitting services, an offer to read to someone or to drive them somewhere, to help somebody out for a day etc.

10. When your list is complete, go back with a pen and circle the gift options you like best. Carry the list with you so that if you don’t find your first choice or if it’s beyond your budget, you can pick options two or three.

11. Once you’re done shopping for your first category or ‘Must Buy’ group, bring back the piece of paper and think about the second category of people. By this time, you ought to know how much you have spent already and how much more your budget will allow.

Depending on how comfortable your balance card looks, shortlist your second group further. You can either choose a handful of people from this group and buy them thoughtful gifts or cut back on the budget for each individual and buy all of them similarly priced gifts at a warehouse store or discount store. Be creative. Even if your budget doesn’t allow a gift for everyone, you could still send them Free Christmas Ecards or personalized photo ecards. Or give them a box of home made cookies. At a time when people are trying to cut corners and save every penny, gift certificates or gift cards to bakeries and coffee shops or gas cards would all be appreciated more than you can imagine.

Tip: If you’re completely clueless as to what to get somebody, the best way to find out is by talking to them. Just call them up, chat with them for a few minutes, ask what they have been up to, what their Christmas plans are and how they have been – and within a few minutes – you will have surely learnt something about them that will give you great gift ideas.

Christmas last minute gifts or ecards

I got an email today from one of those on-line-calendars: “Holiday reminder for Thursday December 25th.” Hmm…what could that be? If you could see my house you’d know that I really, REALLY, don’t need a reminder for this mysterious holiday coming up next Thursday. Next Thursday?!? I cannot believe that Christmas is so close. And before I know it, it will be time to put away my fake tree, take down the lights strung up outside, put away my stash of Holiday wrapping paper and pretty bows, and find a place for my family’s new treasures we received this holiday.

But let’s not think about that yet! There is still time to find last minute gifts at great prices, time to hang up those Christmas lights still snug in the box in the garage, time to go out and get that good smelling tree, time to drink some eggnog, and time to visit Santa at the mall. And there is always ample time to send out your Christmas ecards right here at GotFreeCards.com. So when people start reminding you that Christmas is next week, just nod and smile and say “I can’t wait!” and rest assured that you will get everything done that you need to, especially when you have GotFreeCards here to help you send out your “must-have” Christmas ecards!

Send Christmas Ecards to Santa

Our tree is up, the lights are blinking, and all of the non-breakable ornaments are in their place. That is, until morning when my toddlers remove the ornaments and try to touch the lights which is my cue to remove the whole thing altogether. I am excited to help my kids get ready for Santa Claus and put out the snacks for the reindeer. I can’t wait to see the looks on their faces Christmas morning when they behold the treasures Santa left for them the night before.

When I was a kid, I left a note for Santa on Christmas Eve: “Santa, please come into my room and wake me up when you get to my house so I know that you are real.” It is amazing to me to think I was so unafraid of Santa showing up in my room, because if he appeared today in my room I’d call the cops for sure! Anyway, when I woke up that Christmas morning, I was disappointed that Santa hadn’t introduced himself, but soon found his reply: “I can’t spoil the magic! Ho Ho Ho!” And he was right, Santa Claus represents the magic of the holiday season, and meeting him would have spoiled everything. Even today, though I know the real story, there is still a part of me that believes in the magic of Santa. Whatever your memories are of this festive season, be sure to share them with your loved ones. Make their holidays as bright as your memories by sending them Christmas ecards! And if you can find his email address, send one to Santa, too!

It is Eggnog time

Eggnog. To its numerous fans, the word evokes feelings of warmth, sweetness, and satisfaction. But to a random few, who shall remain nameless (my sister, Lindsey), it brings feelings of horror, the inability to swallow, and nightmares of liquid eggs in a cup. This fear is so strange to me, for I LOVE the yellow holiday beverage, that every year I try to trick my sister into drinking it at Christmas dinner. Because I know if she just tasted it one more time, she’d be in love, just like me. But alas, each year I am promptly found out and scolded by my dear sister. She hasn’t had a sip in over 15 years.

Recently I made my young son aware of the awesomeness of Eggnog, and as he has been asking to have it for breakfast all week, I decided I should find out what it really is! The word “Eggnog” means ‘egg inside of a cup’ and has an English background. As it became popular in recent centuries, people began adding rum, whiskey, or other fun additives for an extra kick. The original recipe was just milk or cream, eggs and sugar. But the carton I picked up from the grocery store also has included in the recipe High Fructose Corn Syrup, a few additives, and Turmeric for extra color, to name a few. I guess I could make my own, but who has time for that?? I still love my Eggnog, but I have to limit how much my young son drinks. It is only around during the holidays, so it is a special treat. As an added bonus this year, I am going to send my sister a lovely Christmas ecard with an added message to taunt her with: “It’s almost time for Eggnog!” Think she’ll still come over for Christmas?

Christmas Options

Sometimes, on holidays, when we’re far away from the people we love, the urge may be present to not spend any time on Christmas shopping for them: after all, opening Christmas gifts in March lacks a certain something, doesn’t it?

But while you certainly don’t need to break your bank in shopping for those out-of-towners in your life, you can easily do something to let them know you’re thinking about them.  You can call them on the phone, of course.  And I usually write my best and oldest friends personalized letters every Christmas—even those I haven’t seen in years.  Another option chritmas ecards —and one I’m certainly taking advantage of—is gotfreecards.com.

And, of course, don’t forget those farthest away of all: the men and women of the United States Military, serving in Afghanistan, Iraq, and all over the world.  I can guarantee you that one phone call, letter or e-card will mean a whole lot more to them than your Dad’s new lawnmower will mean to him.

Christmas Sight and Sounds

You can always count on the Christmas season for the great sights, the pretty sounds, and the delicious smells. Even though money is tight and my family doesn’t plan on doing too much shopping, we still like to jump in the car and head to the mall to take in the sights and smells of Christmas. We go to look at the great big tree with its ornaments that are bigger than basketballs! We walk by the bakery and the coffee house just to smell the pumpkin bread and the candy cane hot chocolate. We let the kids play in the free kid area where they have a clear view of Santa Claus, listening to their peers admit to their urgent Christmas wishes. My kids don’t want to sit on Santa’s lap, he is still too scary in person, and that is fine with me! That is one more dollar I need not spend!

And while I may browse by something I think I need, or that I think a loved one would love to find under the tree, I look to my children who are just amazed at all of the sights and I remember that Christmas isn’t just about the presents. On our way out of the mall, we stop to listen to a children’s choir sing our favorite holiday tunes. And still yet in the car we drive slowly so the kids can take in all of the Christmas lights in the neighborhood. Christmas is everywhere! I still have my loved ones in mind as we reach home, so I head to the computer and send them some Christmas ecards. Money spent on this fabulous day in December? None. Happiness gained on this fabulous day? Countless Amounts. Christmas is what you make it, so make it a good one

Well, Black Friday is behind us now, and the Christmas shopping season is officially in started.  Initial reports say there were 17% more holiday bargain-hunters this Black Friday than last, a number that’s surprising, considering the shoddy state of the economy.  But what that 17% doesn’t factor in—and what many analysts have already pointed out—is that with the struggling economy, many people have been holding back on doing any holiday shopping until Black Friday.

In other words, just because a lot of people went shopping after Thanksgiving, that doesn’t mean all is well and rosy with the economy.  The compulsion may be there to join the crowds, and run out to spend money you really don’t have, even knowing if you do, you’ll regret it later.

I’m not advocating burning your shopping lists this year; I’m not even saying you should pinch pennies in buying gifts for those closest to you—my little brother is getting his high-end telescope, no matter how long I’ll be paying down the credit card bill.  What I am saying, though, is that you can—should—conserve money where you can.  One easy and sensible way to do that is through gotfreecards.com, and their huge collection of free christmas e-cards.  All you have to do is log on, pick your card, and enter the e-email address of the recipient.  It’s that easy, and it doesn’t cost a dime.

So buy a telescope for your brother, or a diamond ring for your fiancé; but remember: you can, and should, save money where you can
