‘Tis the season of forgiveness – Make up with holiday e cards

If you really want to get into the spirit of the holiday season, forget about the people you love.

Just for a minute.

You know – the people who know you care about them. Who’re probably the ones who love you back. Unconditionally. The ones who matter the most to you. The ones whom you will spend your holidays with. For whom you buy the most expensive gifts. And who, you won’t really ever forget about. No matter what.

But, let’s not think about them. For a minute.

Instead, here’s what I ask of you. For just one minute, think of the one person you dislike the most. The one who you think ruined your chances at work. Or whom you haven’t spoken to in years. The ex-best friend who betrayed your trust. The boss who didn’t give you the raise you deserved. The cousin who embarrassed you at a family gathering. Maybe even the ex-spouse who cheated on you.

We can’t deny it. Ask anyone, and there’s sure to be at least one person they detest, dislike or at the very least, will have nothing to do with for the rest of their lives. Whether it’s a relative, colleague or someone who used to be a friend – you never forget about them.

But, maybe the time has come to forgive?

Think about it. Life is short. Let’s say you live a hundred years. You’ve already lived 20, 30 or 40 of them. Do you really want to spend the rest of your life holding on to a grudge or carrying the burden of hatred in your heart? Is it really worth it? What have you gained by not forgiving? Does it really make you any happier?

I’m guessing not. Hatred never makes anyone feel better. On the contrary, studies show that holding on to negative thoughts affects your mental and physical health adversely.  It is likely to cause you stress related diseases and shorten your life span. Your negativity may even spill over to your loved ones. Is that what you really want?

What if you were to decide to forgive that person this holiday season? Yes, the one who hurt you, betrayed your trust or damaged your reputation. It won’t be easy. And it won’t happen overnight. And it may not feel right, at first.

But, give it some time. Allow the thought to sink in.

You don’t have to take a huge step. Start simple. Send that person a holiday e-card. Just wish them well. Wish them happy holidays. And see what happens.

You may just experience something magical. Something beautiful. Something that will change your life and the way you look at life.

One free ecard won’t drastically change your relationship, of course. It may still take you years to actually accept that person with his flaws. But it will break the ice. It will set the ball of forgiveness and communication rolling. You have nothing to lose. Except a minute of your time. And maybe some burden off your chest.

I’d say that’s worth a shot. Don’t you?

Try it. And let us know.

Don’t wait until Turkey Day to Send a Free Thanksgiving Ecard

Send now, open later – a great ecard feature!

When it comes to ecards, my favorite feature is the option that lets you send your ecard on a chosen date. I love this because it gives me the freedom and flexibility to greet my friends and family when I find it convenient. I usually don’t forget a lot of dates. I remember most birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions without having to set event reminders or using a calendar. But, often, what happens is, on the day that somebody’s birthday or anniversary falls, I end up being swamped with work or waiting with an impatient and sick 3 year old at a doctor’s office or buried in something else, so much so that I sometimes end up not finding the few minutes it takes to send an ecard or make a phone call. So at times, I end up not wishing my friends and family on special occasions, even though I keep reminding myself that I should. So, this ‘Send on a chosen date’ feature, to me, is a terrific add-on to ecards. Now, I simply set aside a time during the week on a day when I’m not too busy or on weekends and send free ecards to all the people whose special days are coming up. I pick the date the ecard needs to be sent and that’s it. Never again do I have to miss sending someone a free ecard just because I’m too busy or don’t have access to the internet.

Sending Free Ecards ahead of holidays frees up your time

While this feature is great for birthdays and anniversaries, I find it very useful for holidays as well. The problem with holidays is that there is always so much going on that it’s not always possible to do everything you want to. Besides, holidays are times when you have to wish several people on the same day, which could take up a lot of your time, amidst all the frenzy already happening around you.  Take Thanksgiving, Diwali, Christmas or New Year’s for example. Most of us want to wish at least a dozen people on these holidays. Parents, siblings, cousins, friends, colleagues…the list could be quite long for some people. So, if you were to sit down to send them all ecards on the holiday or the night before, it would take you forever. Besides, there’s always the chance that you might accidentally leave out someone in a hurry. So, what I do, is a few days before the holiday, I start sending out the ecards. I set aside a few minutes every day to send about 5 or 6 ecards and then check those names off my list. By the time the actual date arrives, I’ve covered all the people on my list and can be sure that they will all find an ecard from me in their inbox.

This method gives me more time to pick and choose the ecards I want to send, to personalize each ecard with a message and almost always gives me some last minute grace time to send free ecards to a few people I may have missed.

Send your free Thanksgiving Ecards today…You will be thankful you did!

Why not try this for Thanksgiving? It’s still a few weeks away and you have time on your hands. Start today. Make a list of all the people you want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving. Everyday, send out ecards to about five of them (more or less depending on how many people you want to send ecards to) This way, you can be assured that all your loved ones will receive an ecard from you on the day of thanks. And just like that, by spending a few minutes each day, you would have conveyed your love and gratitude to all the special people in your life. And on Thanksgiving Day, you won’t have to furiously type away hurried messages, sending ecards to mis-spelt email ids. Saying Thank you doesn’t get any easier.

So, say Happy Thanksgiving to your family and friends with our beautiful selection of free ecards. If our variety makes it difficult for you to pick, go ahead and pick as many as you want. You still have time to send all the free ecards you want to, remember?

Home for Christmas

Christmas Ecards
Christmas Ecards

When I was a kid, I remember spending Christmas Eve with my Dad’s family and Christmas Day with my Mom’s family. I thought that that was how it always was, and that is how it always will be. But when I started a family of my own, trying to see everyone important to us became more about driving to the next destination than it did about spending time with our loved ones.

To alleviate this stress, my in-laws began having Christmas one week early. That way, everyone was able to hang out together and celebrate all day long, instead of watching the clock. And I was able to enjoy my extended family on Christmas without trying to split the day up between them and my husband’s family. But when we started having kids, it all changed and everyone wanted to see the kids on Christmas so we were back to square one.

But this year it is going to be different. My husband and I have decided that Christmas is going to be at our house, celebrated with just our immediate foursome, and if anyone wants to see us, they will have to come to us! We will be saving on gas, on stress, and saving time as we enjoy our family in front of the Christmas Tree. And for those whom we will not be seeing, I am going to send them all FREE ecards from GotFreeCards.com. There are so many choices for Holiday Greetings ecards, that there is something for everyone. This Christmas is going to be easy, and I have GotFreeCards to thank!
